I actually think that the best part of JWR Connect was the chat room, and I would say that if we can't bring back another social networking styled site, a chatroom feature would be awesome.

Has anyone considered just using this? http://googletalk.blogspot.com/2007/06/group-chat-for-google-talk-gadget.htmlWe can all create anonymous gmail accounts if that's a concern, and then just let everyone know who they are here compared to their gmail name. It's free, and I believe that the chats are by invitation. Not sure that it's the most elegant solution, but it's an idea. . .

i like the google chat idea. facebook chat blows, it's so overcrowded and bogged down.

I never was approved on jwr connect, what do you have to do to be accepted?

While I think that's a great chat option, my concern is how will we exchange email information with those who want to chat? Perhaps an option could be created here in a members only room where we could post our information and perhaps a time when we would be available to chat so we could find others wanting to chat?

YES I USE THIS SITE! On a daily basis!!! Would love to still be apart of this group however it turns out FB is a good suggestion I'm sure most of us are there everyday anyhow... Please keep us posted. Just now healing and JWR was the catalyst.

Many users on this site have a facebook account. And to be fair ... connecting through that avenue is fairly easy. However ... Opening up to others on facebook as an apostate ... known and recognizable normal person might be a challenge. To be fair, I considered having jwr connect at my disposal to play around with this idea, an advantage.

I agree with Borgia on this one. I never really chatted with anyone when I was on jwr connect- So no hard feelings on my part. I also don't think face book is so private- but who knows.. it could be fun.

Just create a new gmail address, if you don't want to use the one you already have, and then create a new forum topic where we all list our "JWR Chat" gmail addresses. Sign into the Google Talk app, and you'll be able to see who's on at a given time. If you keep that particular account propagated with ONLY JWR people, you'll always be able to see who's signed in; if they're signed in with that account they're probably looking to chat!

Obviously there are some holes in the plan, but it could be a start. We'd probably have to try it out to see whether it would work or not. . .
