EyesOpen, Thanks for the reply. I knew I'd get some kickback on my comment. I admit that I haven't done a lot of research outside of the organization's publications for obvious reasons as witnesses are warned against doing so. From reading posts I know most of you have done extensive research, so I didn't mean to discredit anyones decision to leave. In my particular decision to leave it's mostly a matter of thinking there is far too much mind control, they must be hiding something since they don't allow "outside" research, they undeniably fit the definition of a cult, and just taking into consideration the view the witnesses have from the rest of the world. I'm really just now at the "ok it's time to really do some honest research" stage...

Sure, I can certainly understand that and I didn't take your comments to discredit anyone at all.

Your decision to do honest research is the important one. Stay true to yourself and your principles and wherever you end up will be right.

My parents, my brother and both sisters are. On my mom's side, her parents were/are JWs along with two of her brothers (the third is DFd). On my dad's side, his mom's parents and mom's five sisters and brother were/are, but his parents and siblings aren't, thankfully.

So, yeah, I was definitely raised in the Troof.

Perhaps this thread/Poll can be updated or revised to collect info on age ranges? A y/n answer is too confining? I was 9 years old when my parents got snatched up by the cult.

I only now appreciate why the "society" has such a downer on "divided homes". The assimilation to a totalist ideology is much harder if only half of what you're hearing is bull s***.
