No idea what I believe in anymore but do feel like Iam leaning towards some kind of spirituality? Feeling a little lost and scared to say the least....

Educating myself on evolution is really what stopped me from praying to whomever I thought was listening (god, jesus, some higher power like jesus? I stopped believing jehovah was god after reading gnostic christianity books. Jehovah is the god of war). I agree with vexxed that the burden of proof lies on the believer. I cannot call myself atheist, more agnostic. I think there may be some higher power out there, something in the universe we cannot see. I like Deepak Chopra's theory that thought is the strongest power. Every decision we make affects our genes (our personal future) and the environment at large. I really need to read more to educate myself. Many of you are far more knowledgeable than I, but I wanted to share my thought.

Gnosticism or agnosticism refer to knowledge, and atheism refers simply to belief. They are not mutually exclusive, for example, you can be an agnostic atheist, meaning that you do not know if there is a god, however you do not believe in one. Therefore the survey seems to have a possible flaw.

Most atheists are agnostic in principle, so I doubt it requires any tweaking. I have never met an atheist on here that is 100% sure there are no gods.

Thank you for the quick response, and I love the community that you and your colleges have built. This is obviously a fantastic source for people finally making the decision to choose a more moral and fulfilling life. I am very new to the forum, and have chatted (not on here) with some who claim they have knowledge there are no gods, however I see your point, and again thank you for this space to share.

Interesting. Not sure if this snapshot is representative, but if atheist and agnostic are the main post-WTS religions here (I'm one of them), and if JW's have the highest attrition rate of any religions, we can say WTS's main claim to fame is producing non-Christians. Wow.

I'm merely 99.99% sure. I'd change my mind if there were ever any solid, verifiable, repeatable proof.

I would put myself in the agnostic category instead of atheist. I feel like atheists are saying they're certain there's no god/creator. To me, being agnostic says that I'm not 100% positive and am okay with not having all the answers.

I consider myself an atheist. If we want to get super technical about terms then I am an agnostic atheist. I do not hold the belief in any sort of deity whatsoever, but I also don't think the existence or non-existence of a deity can be proven either way at this point with complete certainty.
