Part of the reason I am now Atheist...

Discussing one's beliefs after leaving the Watchtower Society (non-debate)

Fugue, I'm sure Adam, Eve, Cain, and the "Sons and Daughters" knew what a torch is. After all, they knew how to build fires for sacrifices. They probably would've described it as a spinning torch, not a sword. In the My Book of Traumatizing Bible Stories and Creepy Pictures" they illustrate a spinning sword after the "first couple" was ousted. So the Blotchtower contradicts itself to this day.
"Every account of a higher power that I've seen described... include many statements with regard to the benevolence of that power. When I look at the universe and all the ways the universe wants to kill us, I find it hard to reconcile that with statements of beneficence." -Neil Tyson

Yeah totally agree on the ark thing, also it was suppose to be a worldwide flood right, so how did he get all the animals that only live on certain countries(kiwis, pandas even giant wetas), or did they use to live everywhere?until the flood wiped out all but his ones, maybe decided to drop them off at different countries that hadn't yet been discovered just for the fun off it??
Can't believe I used to believe this stuff, and would defend it so agressively to anyone who tried to point out the huge flaws.... live and learn!!

Endemic species.... Yeah, That was something I struggled with once I was in. I felt so trapped.

With every copy of the bible there should be the following warning: Under no circumstances use your brain! If you accidently use your brain when reading this book, immediately contact the witnesses who will give you a good dose of blind faith and a pair of rose coloured glasses. You will then be able to relax and enjoy the stories without damaging your mental health. DISCLAIMER: THE VIEWS OUTLINED IN THIS BOOK MAY NOT BE THOSE OF THE AUTHOR, THE INTERPRETER, OR YOURS - BUT DON'T TELL ANYONE! - we need the money. :x

Ever notice how the word bible rhymes with idol?

Of course, a book is just a bunch of thoughts encoded. Neither the codes nor the thoughts have any life unless we animate them with our mind. A lot of people, both religious and secular have yet to really discover that about thoughts, even if they have some handle on how that's true about the codes.
You are not your beliefs, you are the one doing the believing.

Getting back to nutty Noah. We mention the animals, yet what about plants? How many seeds did he have to collect? The more this fable is logically considered, the more one should realise how simple a human beings mind can get when mashed and poisoned with Bible teachings. This ridiculous book is still regarded as factual, it is studied and believed by billions as the true word of God. The "God Delusion" is often quoted on this forum; yet I think God got there before Mr Dawkins, his book was called the Bible - the very epitome of delusion!

Hmmm.... Stupid design. Andromeda Galaxy, really? What, did god make the universe, then go "oops, I accidently put the andromeda galaxy on a unavoidable COLLISION course with earth! Oh well! I'm off to make whales with vestigial legs, and while I'm at it, for NO REASON, whatsoever, let's give these humans vestigial tails and yolk sacs. They'll never find out anyway. Hey, to really **** with them, let's encode in the DNA, their relation with everything else, even though I created everything individually!" Yeah, god's either an asshole, a shitty designer, or wait for it...NOT REAL. In the words of the late, great Christopher Hitchens "All of this could be part of a plan. There is no way an atheist could prove it’s not. But it’s some plan, isn’t it? With mass destruction, pitiless extermination, annihilation going on all the time. And all of this set in motion on a scale that’s absolutely beyond our imagination…in order that the pope can tell people not to jerk off."
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move. -Douglas Adams

In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves - Carl Sagan

lol you crack me up Fugue
Honestly I think they should have just called it The Spinning Flaming Thing because that sounds more awesome than a flaming sword
