Exactly. :happydance:

I changed my profile to Buddhist, but not strictly speaking. I am exploring the wisdom of GS, but I don't buy into the reincarnation thing.

Cool, you might like to check out Jack Kornfield, who was a Buddhist monk (forest tradition/Vipassna) and now he's an author and teaches retreats.

If you look for the audio series called 'Your Buddha Nature' it's an awesome listen... based on the 1o parametas (not the right spelling... but the 10 innate perfections of the heart that we can awaken to). If you need help finding it PM me.

If you like Zen more than Brad Warner wrote some books I like but a lot of it is humourous commentary compared to serious searching.

After 5-6 years freedom from W T 'truth' finding much in reading, internet, speaking to people of other (mostly Christian denomination-all the same, some other) find basic truth the same in all with ever so much myth, fallisies, wishful dogmas. So---
Finding God Almighty over all creation and Peoples is ONE-all consuming spirit (energy in all, everyone , everything created) All humans are one family under and with God-giving us the choice to obey -natural laws, moral, just, righteous, loving kindness-care or disobey---obedience with God disobedience oppose-satan-devil- possible of and within each human being according to how one treats fellow man and all other creation.
Since there is good in the worst of us and bad in the best of us non of us have anything to brag about nor force others to believe and practice. This is my story so far. Live and learn. Take in knowledge and become wiser.
Thank you for your exposures of the Bible-my conclusions.
The name Jehovah- only in existence since 1273 according to the Aid to Bible Understanding of Watchtower. HMMMM Jesus used it? Adam, Moses, Israelites----according to whose truth???

I consider myself to be a non-denominational Christian. After I shed the Watchtower Society, I still found that I believed in God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ. A couple of years after I left the Watchtower religion I began "church hopping", and found a church which matches almost all of my personal beliefs AND had a lot of good family and youth activities. I've been with them now for six years, and am quite happy now. :D

I do find it interesting though that most of the x-jw's here have gone atheist. Why is that?

Congrats to you on your new found happiness! I applaid anyone who escapes a mind controlling cult, esp the JW cult. I will at last embellish on my Atheism.

When I first DA'd from the JW cult I went dormant with respects to [g]od, the bible, and religion in general. While indoctrinated, I always felt something was not right with the religion, cult or whatever one may wish to label the high control group. Whatever. One fine day, I decided to research my very own being. Why I could not relate to a [g]od. My suspicions were a lot deeper than questioning a religion. I have and still believe faith is a lie. My Atheism stems from the fact that a [g]od, a higher power if you will cannot be proven. Period. There is no sustainable evidence for [g]od's existence. It is as simple as that. The burden of proof falls on the one claiming faith. The one claiming extraordinary circumstances for such a belief in the supernatural.

Besides: If there is a [g]od, the [g]od of the bible is not something I can subscribe to. How is it ever ok to KILL another human being?

As a Christian I think it's sad to see the majority are atheist or agnostic now but frankly it's hardly a surprise! The WT will have to answer for being blind guides (imo). I wonder how I'd have gotten on if I'd not have read Franz' books.

Whatever your beliefs Hooray! to freedom of conscience! :toast
