Thanks Atlantis for posting this. I noticed that the same page 3 imfo went to USA as well, so they are really worried about letting the brothers hear old light. The part about glorifying an individual is rubbish. Most people don't care who said it, they are more interested in what the societies representative says.

I saw a discussion of this somewhere else and someone made a very good point.

The article says that one reason not to distribute these is that they may contain "local needs" which may be confusing to people in other areas (so much for world-wide unity). Someone likened this to Paul's letters in the bible. Weren't these all just "local needs" letters? But somehow still valuable for everyone to consider.

Someone really, really, really needs to start archiving everything posted on JW websites so that we don't lose access when they all start coming down. Is there any group out there committed to doing that? Should we start one? All of the PDFs out there, the audio files, even some message board posts...there's a wealth of necessary info out there that I fear us losing if it's not all saved in some central location.

This is my main concern too. I wish I could do something about it myself.

The cat is already out the bag. Any efforts they make from this point forward will only make them look like they are trying to hide something. The more people start to notice that they are losing personal freedoms, the more they will start to question things. It may not get the older ones attention, but the younger JWs will start to notice their freedom of choice starting to disappear. This is a battle they can not win because they need young people and new converts to keep this charade going.

Before long, they will probably have even more restrictions on making recordings at both the local Hall and assemblies. Maybe any type of recording device will be prohibited period. This is the good old cult paranoia and control issues that are escalating.

Did you guys happen to notice later in that KM about the requirements for attending assemblies these days? For example, if your spouse or someone near you is having a heart attack, please don't call 911 yourself. Instead, go find an attendant, then he will call the convention first aid dept. and following the eventual arrival of likely medically incompetent JW staff, they will decide to call 911 or 999 if in Europe. God help you if you are having problems during a prayer...because nobody will move until the prayer ends some minutes later.

I also found the advice they gave for those staying at Hotels to be laughable, especially about abusing the free complementary breakfast! I remember traveling in Florida once and was staying at a hotel in a city that had a convention that weekend and there were dubs at the breakfast bar, who not only pigged out like this was their last free meal, but they stuffed fruit, donuts, drinks, and everything else not bolted down into their pockets and backpacks. I wonder if things have gotten so out of hand lately that hotel managers have complained to the WTS about losing money on JW's staying there?

Dubs are so heading for the day when they have check off lists of how they are supposed to act and what to do when they come out of their caves. Until then, if you are unlucky enough to be in a city when a dub convention is going on, head for the high end hotels if you want something to eat for your complementary breakfast...no dubs around to hog it all up.

LMAO, Spad! This shit never made any sense to me. You illustrate why, beautifully.

Again, LMAO! Remember, the JWs are usually broke; abusing the free grub is excusable because eating it will give them more energy to serve Jehovah. Plus there's always plenty of room in the book bags for bagels, fruit, etc.

Thanks for the laughs, Spad. I always hated those stupid "Convention Reminders" parts ... I'm guessing the txt msg stuff is a big problem for them now, as well. LOL!

Let them squeeze folks....they will squeeze more and more people out of the borg with this diluted attempt to change the past and control the future.

One day we will see this organization only a shell of what it once was.......

Those who keep the pressure on please keep it up as you can see it is working.

MTM
When an organization classifies scrutiny as mutiny the leadership is unsure of its own validity and must squelch any opposition to maintain the status quo or control.

Now, the thing about interpretations of the bible is that, at best, they are in affect a guess, and hopefully and educated guess.

Ok so this was discussed last night at the meeting and they of course were just eating the bs up! The reasons for why recordings should not be passed around were so lame as have already been discussed. The elder who gave the talk made sure that everyone understood that they are not to record anything and then post it on the Internet. He repeated that twice. He directed them to go to jw.org Only two people specifically mentioned apostates. One even commented about how repulsive it would be to listen to a recorded talk by a person who is currently disfellowshipped. He said you would not associate with that person, so you should not be listening to them. If I didn't already think they were a few crayons short, I would have been offended by the repulsive comment. I'm not sweet on myself, but I do think I'm a pretty awesome person, lol!

My updated take on this is that even if they stop people from passing around talks, the information straight from the organization itself in the form of print is enough for someone to take a deep, objective look at what is being taught. The ship is already sinking. It's too late to fill in the holes.
